PART 2

The school gathered outside that afternoon.

Noah had no idea why.

Then…

A white van slowly pulled into the parking lot.

The side door opened.

A little boy stepped out.

Thinner than before.

Walking carefully.

But smiling.

“Ethan!”

Noah dropped his backpack.

Ran across the playground.

And hugged him so tightly…

Neither boy wanted to let go.

The teachers wiped away tears.

The bus driver quietly smiled.

The next morning…

For the first time in months…

The empty seat wasn’t empty anymore.

Ethan climbed aboard.

Looked at Noah.

Then laughed.

“You kept it.”

Noah smiled.

“I promised.”

Years later…

Both boys graduated from high school together.

During the ceremony…

Their old bus driver was invited as a guest.

They handed her the faded friendship bracelet.

Framed beneath it…

Were six simple words:

“Some promises are worth waiting for.”

And from that day on…

Every new bus driver learned one lesson:

Never assume an empty seat…

…means nobody is coming home.
