One letter read:
“That meal was the first hot food my children had eaten in two days.”
Another said:
“I almost gave up that night.”
“But your kindness reminded me…
…that someone still cared.”
The waitress wiped away her tears.
The following Friday…
When the elderly man arrived…
He found something different.
Every table in the restaurant…
Had one empty chair.
Customers looked at him and smiled.
The owner stood up.
“You taught us…”
“An empty chair doesn’t always mean someone’s missing.”
“Sometimes…”
“It means there’s room for one more person to be loved.”
That evening…
Instead of one meal being delivered…
Thirty-two meals left the restaurant.
Each paid for by a different customer.
The old man quietly looked at the sweater resting on the chair.
Then whispered,
“We did it again.”
Years later…
The restaurant still keeps one table permanently marked:
Reserved for Two.
No names.
Just one small message engraved into the wood:
“Love doesn’t end when someone is gone.
Sometimes… it simply changes who gets fed.”
